Biological Activity

Luciferase, firefly is a luciferase from Photinus pyralis that catalyzes the reaction of luciferin with ATP and results in the production of yellow-green light. The enzyme has a molecular weight of 62 kDa, is expressed in Escherichia coli, and can be used as a reporter gene for gene function as well as for quantification of ATP.
