Methyl Green is a potent fluorescent dye. Methyl Green is a DNA stain used as a tracking dye in acid buffers for electrophoresis. It helps differentiate bacteria and is also a tissue stain for nucleoli and mitochondria in tissues. It is used with Bismarck Brown frequently. Methyl Green can be used as a stain for direct measuring of viability by both microscopy and flow cytometry, with peaks at 633 and 677 nm.
