Biological Activity

Dicyclol is an anti-hepatitis compound used in studies of chronic hepatitis B and possibly hepatitis C in China. The compound appears to prevent liver damage in animals. Recently, it has been reported that dicyclol induces the expression of HSP27 and HSP70 in liver, thereby inhibiting the transcription factor NF-kB - mediated apoptosis and necrosis of liver tissue. These results suggest that dicyclol may induce the expression of HSP27 and HSP70 in liver by activating the transcription of HSPs gene.
