Biological Activity

Teriparatide acetate is a PHT agonist, with an IC50 of 2 nM in HEK293 cells. Teriparatide is a recombinant form of parathyroid hormone. It is an effective anabolic (i.e., bone growing) agent used to treat some forms of osteoporosis. Teriparatide (10 mg/kg or 40 mg/kg; 4 weeks) treatment significantly increased trabecular calcium by 70% and 123%, respectively, compared with the vehicle and by 73%.
