Saikosaponin C, the active ingredient in Bupleurum, mainly targets amyloid beta and tau proteins in ALZHEIMER's disease. Saikosaponin C inhibited the release of Aβ1-40 and Aβ1-42, and inhibited abnormal tau phosphorylation, but had no effect on BACE1 activity and expression.
