Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is produced by many immune cells, such as T cells, macrophages, mast cells and dendritic cells. It is usually secreted as a homodimer and, upon binding to receptors, inhibits the synthesis of several cytokines, including IFN-gamma, IL-2, IL-3, TNF, and GM-CSF produced by activated macrophages and Th2 cells. It also displays the ability to suppress Antigen-Presenting Cell (APC) function.
Measured in a bioassay using C6 cells, the ED50 is < 8.0 μg /ml.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
