Storage and Stability: lyophilized proteins should be stored at < -20°C, but can be stored for up to 3 weeks at room temperature. The recombinant protein solution can be stored at 4-7 ° C for 2-7 days. Aliquots of recombinant samples were stable at < -20°C for 3 months.
Bioactivity: Interleukin 2 (IL 2), also known as T-cell growth factor, is a member of a family of cytokines that includes IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15 and IL-21. Each member of the family has a four-helix bundle. Il-2 signaling is transmitted through the IL-2 receptor, a complex of tree-like subunits called alpha, beta, and gamma. Il-2rγ is shared by cytokine receptors from all members of the cytokine family. The identity of mature mouse IL-2 with human IL-2 and rat IL-2 was 56% and 73%, respectively. Il-2 is produced by CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, γδT cells, B cells, dendritic cells and eosinophils, and plays an important role in key functions of the immune system, tolerance and immunity, mainly through its powerful stimulatory activity on T cells. Thus, IL-2 may be a key cytokine that naturally suppresses autoimmunity.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
