Biological Activity

Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) is a non-secreted proinflammatory cytokine produced in a variety of cells including monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes and other epithelial cells. The ED50 as determined by a cell proliferation assay using murine D10S cells is less than 2.0 pg/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 5.0 × 108 IU/mg. IL-1α has a broad range of activities including, stimulation of thymocyte proliferation, by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGF-like activity and the ability to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.

Accession: # Q3U0Y6

Molecular Weight: 17.9 kDa

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH 7.4.

Chemical Information
Solubility (25°C) Reconstitute the lyophilized powder in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml.
Storage Stable for up to 6 months at -70°C or -20°C.
Upon reconstitution, the product should be stable for up to 1 week at 4°C or up to 3 months at -20°C.

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.

Lymphotoxin Beta Receptor is the receptor for the heterotrimeric lymphotoxin containing LTA and LTB, and for TNFS14/LIGHT. It promotes apoptosis via TRAF3 and TRAF5 and may play a role in the development of lymphoid organs. The encoded protein and its ligand play a role in the development and organization of lymphoid tissue and transformed cells.
