Bioactivity: TGFBR2 is a uniplex type I membrane protein containing a protein kinase domain. TGFBR2 exists as a heterodimer complex with another receptor protein and binds to TGF - β. Signals triggered by TGF - β receptor complexes trigger various cellular responses. One response is to inhibit cell growth and division. Based on this effect, TGF - β receptor type 2 is sometimes referred to as a tumor suppressor. Defects in TGFBR2 are associated with the development of Marfan syndrome, Loys-Deitz aortic aneurysm syndrome, Osler-Weber-Rendu syndrome, and various tumor types.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
