Bioactivity: Fully bioactive compared to the standard. Bioactive concentrations were determined by chemotactic bioassay of human T lymphocytes in the range of 1.0-10.0 ng/ mL. CCL18 cDNA encodes a precursor protein with an 89AA residue that contains a 20AA signal peptide that is cleaved to produce a 69AA residue mature protein that lacks potential glycosylation sites. In vitro, THE expression of CCL18 mRNA was induced and IFN-γ was inhibited in macrophages alternately activated by Th2 cytokines IL-4, IL-10 and IL-13. Gm-csf/IL-4 induced monocyte derived dendritic cells also expressed CCL18 mRNA. In vivo, CCL18 is highly expressed in lung and placenta, but not in epidermal Langerhans cells. Recombinant CCL18 has been shown to attract primary T cells, but not monocytes or neutrophils.
