Biological Activity

Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) constitute a subfamily within the TGF-β superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. BMP-4 is involved in the development and maintenance of bone and cartilage. Reduced expression of BMP-4 is associated with a number of bone diseases, including the heritable disorder Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva.

Measured by its ability to induce ATDC-5 cells to produce alkaline phosphatase, the ED50 is ≤50 ng/mL.

DNA sequence encoding human BMP-4 (NP_001334841.1) expressed with an Fc tag at the C-terminus.

Recombinant human BMP-4 protein contains 354 amino acids with a predicted theoretical molecular weight of 40.1kD.

Chemical Information
Solubility (25°C) Reconstitute the lyophilized powder in ddH2O or PBS to 100 μg/ml.
Storage Stored at ≤ -20°C, stable for one year after receipt
Conversion of different model animals based on BSA (PMID: 27057123)
Species Mouse Rat Rabbit Guinea pig Hamster Dog
Weight (kg) 0.02 0.15 1.8 0.4 0.08 10
Body Surface Area (m2) 0.007 0.025 0.15 0.05 0.02 0.5
Km factor 3 6 12 8 5 20
Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.

Related Recombinant Proteins Products
Recombinant Human IL-10 (CHO)

Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is usually secreted as a homodimer and, upon binding to its receptor, inhibits the synthesis of a number of cytokines, including IFN-gamma, IL-2, IL-3, TNF and GM-CSF produced by activated macrophages and Th2 cells.

Recombinant Human IL-5 (CHO)

Interleukin-5 (IL-5) is responsible for the activities attributed to eosinophil differentiating factor, B cell growth factor II and T cell-replacing factor (TRF). IL-5 plays an important role in inducing cell-mediated immunity against parasitic infections and certain tumors.

Recombinant Human Tau-F Protein (E.coli)

Tau proteins are proteins which contain four Tau/MAP repeats. They promote microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity.

Recombinant Human Tau Protein (E. coli, His Tag)

Tau proteins are proteins that stabilize microtubules. Tau protein is a highly soluble microtubule-associated protein (MAP). In humans, these proteins are mostly found in neurons compared to non-neuronal cells. One of tau's main functions is to modulate the stability of axonal microtubules.

Recombinant Rat IL-23 Protein (HEK293, C-His)

IL-23 (IL-23 alpha & IL-12 beta Heterodimer) Protein is a recombinant protein dimer complex containing rat-derived IL-23 alpha & IL-12 beta Heterodimer protein, expressed by HEK293.
