Pristinamycin, produced by Streptomyces pristinaespiralis, is an orally active streptogramin-like antibiotic. The pristinamycins exhibit a strong synergistic antibacterial activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin- and vancomycin-resistant strains.
