Biological Activity

N-Octanoyl dopamine (NOD) protects cell cultures and tissues from cold storage inflicted damage. N-Octanoyl dopamine decreases lactate-dehydrogenase (LDH) release during cold storage of cardiomyocytes in vitro. NOD did not induce a significant elevation of intracellular cAMP and is devoid of dopaminergic and adrenergic action.
