Biological Activity

N-Methyltyramine is a proto-alkaloid that can be isolated from a variety of plants. N-Methyltyramine is also an α2-adrenergic receptor antagonist and enhances appetite and food digestion by stimulating gastrin and pancreatic secretion. In addition, N-Methyltyramine relaxes small intestinal smooth muscle and inhibits peristalsis in mice.
