Biological Activity

Jc-1 (Mitochondrial membrane potential probe) is a fluorescent lipophilic carbonyl cyanine dye used to measure mitochondrial membrane potential. The maximum excitation/emission wavelength is 515nm/529nm (590nm), and green fluorescence is emitted. Used to observe mitochondria, stored at room temperature, away from light. Jc-1 should be redissolved in high-quality freshly opened DMSO (1 mg/mL). After redissolution, it should be stored at -20°C; Avoid freeze-thaw.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
