Biological Activity

Goserelin acetate is an injectable gonadotropin releasing hormone superagonist (GnRH agonist), also known as a luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist. Goserelin is a synthetic analogue of a naturally occurring luteinising-hormone releasing hormone (LHRH). Goserelin Acetate is a potent GnRH (LHRH) agonist. After a transient increase, continuous administration of goserelin results in downregulation of LH and FSH levels followed by a suppression of ovarian and testicular steroid biosynthesis. It rapidly binds to the LHRH receptor cells in the pituitary gland thus leading to an initial increase in production of luteinizing hormone and thus leading to an initial increase in the production of corresponding sex hormones.

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
