Biological Activity

Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic of the fourth-generation fluoroquinolone family. Gatifloxacin inhibits bacterial type II topoisomerases with IC50 values of 0.109 and 13.8 μg/ml for E.coli DNA gyrase and S.aureus topoisomerase IV respectively. Gatifloxacin stimulates short-term self-renewal in both human and mouse embryonic stem cells in vitro.
