Biological Activity

Fenbendazole (Panacur) is a broad spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic used against gastrointestinal parasites with an IC5 of about 0.01 ug/ml. Drug interactions may occur if using bromsalan flukicides such as dibromsalan and tribromsalan. Abortions in cattle and death in sheep have been reported after using these medications together. In a study, the LC90s of albendazole and mebendazole were 0.92 to 2.1ug/ml, and those of fenbendazole were 0.06 to 0.07ug/ml; the latter are eight to ninefold lower than the LC90s of amphotericin B that were obtained. <

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
