Biological Activity

Carumonam (AMA-1080) is a sulfonated monocyclic β-lactam antibiotic from Chromobacterium purpureum that targets penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), is active against aerobic Gram-negative bacteria and is resistant to β-lactamase-mediated hydrolysis.
