Biological Activity

TRITC-dextran (70 kDa) is a fluorescent derivative of a dextran fraction with an average molecular weight of approximately 70000. TRITC dextrans are prepared from special dextran fractions by coupling to tetramethylrhodamine B isothiocyanate (mixed isomers). TRITC-dextrans are supplied as a pink powder which is readily soluble in water. TRITC-dextran is mainly used for studying permeability and microcirculation. It can also be used as a molecular size marker, for studies of drug delivery and more.

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
