Polyethylene glycol 20000 (PEG 20000) is a polymer formed by condensation reaction of ethylene oxide and water. Polyethylene glycol is used for the isolation of plasmid DNA and the precipitation of phage. When exposed to air, PEG is susceptible to oxidative degradation.
