NVP-DPP-728 dihydrochloride is a potent and selective dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitor. NVP-DPP-728 ameliorates early insulin response and glucose tolerance in aged rats but not in aged Fischer 344 rats lacking its enzyme activity. NVP-DPP-728 increases plasma GLP-1 (7-36 amide) concentrations and improves oral glucose tolerance in obese Zucker rats.
