Biological Activity

Mitochonic acid 5 (MA-5) reduces mitochondrial apoptosis via upregulation of mitophagy. Mitochonic acid 5 regulates mitophagy via Bnip3 through the MAPK-ERK-Yap signaling pathway. Mitochonic Acid 5 is a derivative of the plant hormone indole-3-acetic acid. Administration of Mitochonic acid 5 (MA-5) to an ischemia-reperfusion injury model and a cisplatin-induced nephropathy model improved renal function. Oral administration of Mitochonic acid 5 increases the plasma concentration in a dose-response manner at the peak time of 1 hour.

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
