Biological Activity

Mag-Fluo-4 AM is a fluorescent chelator for Ca2+ with high affinity for calcium and can specifically recognize intracellular calcium ions with high sensitivity and low cytotoxicity. Addition of AM acetylmethyl ester allows better access to the cell, and after being sheared by the intracellular esterase, it stays in the cell and binds to calcium ions, thus generating strong fluorescence (λex=475 nm, λem=515 nm).

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
