Biological Activity

IR808 (MHI-148) is a near-infrared heptamethine cyanine dye with tumor-targeting properties for cancer detection, diagnosis and research. IR808 (MHI-148) is immediately taken up and accumulated by lysosomes and mitochondria of tumor cells, but not in lysosomes and mitochondria of normal cells. IR808, which acts as an optical imaging agent, targeting moiety and also trigger on-demand drug release on application of NIR 808 nm laser.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
