Biological Activity

Docosahexaenoic acid is a endogenous omega-3 fatty acid. Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) acts as a selective retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist that displays no activity at RAR, thyroid hormone receptor or the vitamin D receptor (VDR). Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) activates all three RXR isoforms. DHA also shown to inhibit Aβ1-42 fibrillation and toxicity in vitro. The multiple double bonds and unique structure allow DHA to impart special membrane characteristics for effective cell signaling.

Docosahexaenoic acid administration over 10 weeks significantly reduces the number of reference memory errors, without affecting the number of working memory errors, and significantly increases the docosahexaenoic acid content and the docosahexaenoic acid/arachidonic acid ratio in both the hippocampus and the cerebral cortex.

Related Metabolite/Endogenous Metabolite Products
L-Citrulline DL-Malate

L-Citrulline DL-malate is an organic compound commonly used as a nutritional supplement. It boosts the body's production of nitrogen oxides, improves circulation and athletic performance, and reduces muscle fatigue. In addition, L-Citrulline DL-malate can be used in the field of agriculture to enhance plant immunity.

Creatine-d3

Creatine-d3 is the deuterium labeled Creatine. Creatine is an endogenous amino acid derivative, which plays an important role in cellular energy, especially in muscle and brain.

Creatinine-d3

Creatinine-d3 is a deuterium labeled Creatinine. Creatinine is a break-down product of creatine phosphate in muscle.

Urolithin M7

Urolithin M7 is a metabolite, which is derived from the transformation of ellagitannins, compounds found predominantly in pomegranates, berries, and nuts. This transformation occurs via intestinal microbiota, which convert ellagitannins into various urolithins, including Urolithin M7. Its mode of action involves influencing cellular processes, potentially modulating mitochondrial function and autophagy pathways.

L-Ornithine-15N2 hydrochloride

L-Ornithine-15N2 hydrochloride is the 15N-labeled L-Ornithine hydrochloride. L-Ornithine hydrochloride is a free amino acid that plays a central role in the urea cycle and is also important for the disposal of excess nitrogen.
