Magnesium Lithospermate B is a derivative of caffeic acid tetramer extracted from Salviae miltiorrhizae. Magnesium Lithospermate B is widely used for the research of cardiovascular diseases, and it can protect against glucose-induced intracellular oxidative damage. Magnesium Lithospermate B also suppresses neuroinflammation and attenuates neurodegeneration.
Magnesium Lithospermate B (20-60 μg/ml; 24 h) increases SOD activity in cardiomyocytes, reduces intracellular ROS and MDA levels, and significantly suppresses cardiomyocytes apoptosis. Magnesium Lithospermate B (1-100 μg/ml) enhances proliferation of neural stem cells (NSCs) in a dose-dependent manner. Magnesium Lithospermate B (10 μg/ml) promotes the differentiation in vitro of NSCs towards neurons.
Magnesium Lithospermate B (2-8 mg/kg; p.o. once daily for 16 d) reduces the renal damage of oxidative stress through reduction of reactive oxygen species in old rats. Magnesium Lithospermate B (0.5 μg/g; s.c. for 6 weeks) promotes the neurogenesis and improves the memory in PD models.

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by | Animal B Km |
Animal A Km |
For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
