Bioactivity: Angiotensin-converting Enzyme 2 (ACE-2) is a complete membrane protein and zinc metalloproteinase in the ACE family, which includes somatic ACE and germinal ACE. Ace-2 cleaves angiotensin I and II to carboxypeptidase, converts angiotensin I to angiotensin 1-9, and angiotensin II to angiotensin 1-7. Ace-2 also hydrolyzed Apelin-13 and Dynorphin-13 efficiently. Ace2 was moderately high expressed in testis, kidney, heart, colon, small intestine and ovary. Captopril and lisinopril as classic ACE inhibitors do not inhibit ACE-2 activity. Ace-2 may play an important role in regulating cardiac function.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
