N6-(delta 2-isopentenyl) adenine is a bacteria-derived riboside cytokinin used to grow plant tissues such as tobacco and soybean callus. 6-(γ,γ-Dimethylallylamino)purine has been used as a component of Murashige and Skoog medium for promoting tissue lignification in Acca sellowiana and as a component of SIM medium for used in regeneration assay of cotyledons.
