Deltamethrin produces a reversible sequence of motor symptoms in rats involving hind limb rigidity and choreoathetosis. The main target of deltamethrin is the basic voltage-gated sodium channel (VGSCs) of nerve cell excitatory conduction. The mechanism of action is to prolong the opening time of VGSCs in insects, so that the cell membrane continues to depolarize, so the symptoms of poisoning after ataxia , that is, immediately convulsed and quickly entered a paralyzed state, and finally paralyzed and died. In addition, deltamethrin can also act on other targets of insects, such as chloride ion channels, ATPase, GABA receptors, glutamate receptors, acetylcholine receptors, and voltage-gated calcium ion channels.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
