Recombinant Mouse SCF Protein (P. pastoris) is a ligand of the receptor protein tyrosine kinase KIT. It plays an important role in regulating cell survival and proliferation, hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, gametogenesis, mast cell development, migration and function, and melanin production. It stimulates the proliferation of myeloid, erythroid, and lymphoid progenitors in bone marrow cultures and has been shown to act synergistically with colony stimulating factors. SCF can regulates HSCs in the stem cell niche in the bone marrow.
Measured by a cell proliferation assay using human TF-1 cells, the ED50 is < 10.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 1.0 × 105 units/mg.

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
