Methylnaltrexone Bromide, a quaternary derivative of Naltrexone, is an orally active and selective mu-opioid receptor antagonist, functions as a peripherally acting receptor antagonist in tissues of the gastrointestinal tract. Methylnaltrexone Bromide has restricted ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.
