Biological Activity

Daunorubicin (Daunomycin) HCl is a topoisomerase II inhibitor, inhibits both DNA and RNA synthesis and inhibits DNA synthesis with Ki of 0.02 μM.

Daunorubicin hydrochloride is a cytotoxin that inhibits cancer cell viability and induces apoptosis and necrosis, with potent anti-tumor activity. Daunorubicin hydrochloride is also an anthracycline antibiotic. Daunorubicin hydrochloride can be used in the research of infection and variety of cancers.

Daunorubicin hydrochloride (intraperitoneal injection, 10 mg/kg) induces sister chromatid exchanges in mice.

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
