Biological Activity

3-Indoleacetic acid (indole-3-acetic acid; IAA) is a broad-spectrum plant growth regulator with indole auxin activity. It can be added to cell culture medium to induce plant cell elongation and division.

IAA (3-Indoleacetic acid) can be dissolved in sterile water containing 5 % ethanol to make a final concentration at 1 μM.

Molecular Weight 175.19
Formula C10H9NO2
CAS Number 87-51-4

Animal A (mg/kg) = Animal B (mg/kg) multiplied by  Animal B Km
Animal A Km

For example, to modify the dose of Compound A used for a mouse (20 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 20 mg/kg by the Km factor for a mouse and then divide by the Km factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for Compound A of 10 mg/kg.
